Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is not a substitute for exercise and subsequent weight loss; it corrects excess skin in the stomach/abdomen. A tummy tuck will improve the abdominal area making that area appear more flat and toned.
The Tummy Tuck Procedure
Incisions are how the excess skin is removed. Depending on the amount of excess skin, the incisions are range from a 2-3 inches all the way up to 20 inches. The process is much like a facelift; loose skin is removed and then closed usually
with stitches. Anesthia is almost always present - and in some situations require a patient to stay overnight...but the majority of tummy tucks are done on an outpatient basis.

Tummy Tuck Recovery Time
You will need a caregiver for the first 36-48 hours since during this time you will be confined to the bed. Discomfort and soreness is treated with medication. You should feel much better after day 3 and once the stitches are removed - usually 1-2 weeks. Swelling will persist for a number of months - most plastic surgeons say final results of a tummy
tuck are seen around month six post surgery.
Tummy tucks are not recommended for women who might have children - the permamnt results will be best post
childbirth.
